SnapBack uses a canonical signage system to ensure consistency across all interfaces:

🟢 Watch (watch) - Silent auto-snapshots

Canonical value: watch

Zero-friction protection with automatic snapshots on save. Perfect for files you want to protect without any workflow interruption.

Best for: Configuration files, documentation, assets, test files

🟡 Warn (warn) - Confirmation before save

Canonical value: warn

Gentle reminder with confirmation prompt before save. Provides time to think before making changes to important files.

Best for: Source code, critical configuration, build scripts, production files

🔴 Block (block) - Required snapshot (audit trail)

Canonical value: block

Highest protection level that blocks changes until you provide context, creating an audit trail for critical modifications.

Best for: Secrets, environment files, API keys, production database config, critical infrastructure
